A known early point of failure for VW, Audi, and Porsche models with the EA888 Gen3 engine, water pump/thermostats are a complex piece of technology including an electrical motor, worm gearbox, two rotary slide valves - and it's also a water pump. Not so simple, is it? We've removed the electrical complexity (and a big point of failure) and with careful engineering, have resulted in a pump that meets OE spec for both cooling performance and temperature curve. We've added lightness, added simplicity, and would encourage you to upgrade your engine with this pump.
Solve the #1 failure point in EA888 engines. This complete kit includes the updated water pump + thermostat assembly with seals — a must at 60,000–100,000 km. Either way, keep your eye peeled for signs of failure, which include a check engine light accompanied by coolant pump malfunction codes, coolant leaks from the pump (a small leak will likely lead to a larger problem), physical issues with the pump itself (audible squeaking or pump shaft play) and/or overheating.
